"Ahoy my new friend!" I've always wanted to use "Ahoy" as a greeting and this seems like the perfect place to use it. My name is G.A. Thomas. As a Navy Mom of 16 plus years and counting, I've had the distinct privilege to be a part of the military family. I have witnessed firsthand the strength and fortitude exhibited by amazing individuals, both by those serving in the military and by their immediate families. As a grandmother I find myself in awe of a child's resilience when dealing with the realities of military life. It is quite an undertaking for such young people to retain the joys of childhood while facing daily challenges that test their bravery and emotional strength. The children have inspired me to invite you into their lives and share with you their heartfelt moments of truth . It will be a wonderful adventure to experience the world inside the guarded gates and meet the young people who overcome the difficult occasions military life presents with an unwavering sense of hope. Their dedication and sense of duty is creating a new generation of superheroes. As a small gesture to reward them for their perseverance, I would like to donate 90 percent of the proceeds from my first book, OCTO8 Junior League, to the Navy League of the United States. Scholarship funds supporting active duty Navy children with tutoring costs, sports fees, recreation classes, summer camp fees and college book costs.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I live in a magical place in Georgia, where the Chattahoochee River flows and red shouldered hawks kite overhead. I spend several hours a day in nature with my furry friends and family. It is always exciting. My two grown children have been amazing partners in life's adventures and have enriched my world with a new generation of grandchildren to explore with. Throughout the years I've had fun being a scout leader, a barrel racer, an abstract artist, a dancer, a trail guide, a nature docent and a kayaker. My professional life consists of 25 years in the legal profession and 30 years as an active participant in childhood education as a tutor, mentor, teacher and volunteer. I am so excited for this new journey to begin.
OCTO 8 JUNIOR LEAGUE
(release date November 2023)
MISSION ONE (Ages 8 to 11)
Aiden, Carson, and Billy are all set for a Saturday full of fun at the base arcade. They live for the weekends when they can be carefree just like all 10 year olds. The fact they were military kids made it even more important to have free time away from weekday rules and routines. Their wrestling is brought to a full stop when a bellowing voice interrupts their fun and commands a new mission to be set for the day.
FAIRY SENSES (Ages 4 to 9)
(release date December 2024)
Come along and flutter on the wings of the fairy, experiencing nature through her senses. The purity of its splendor is magical and healing for one little girl waiting for her injured soldier mother's loving embrace.
A FRIENDLY LITTLE LIE (Ages 8 to 11)
(release date November 2025)
Brie was so excited about her dance audition. She was in her own little world, reliving her routine in her mind while she strolled through the middle school hallway to her homeroom. She tried to put the thought of her dad out of her mind. He had been gone so long, almost a year. He was deployed to Iraq. She missed him so much. It was best to put all of her energy into her dance audition and move her sadness to the back of her mind. The moments had passed in slow motion as she arrived at her homeroom and was met by a personal challenge.
It would be great to have company on this exciting new journey as a self published writer. Adventure awaits us at every turn. The magic of the words and the creativity of the mind limitless.
